The Constructed Self: Me, Us, Them

 

This was the first team I built from the ground up with a group of talented faculty who, like my former Cyborg team, became great friends and mentors. We designed this course to look at the social construction of identity here in America. We had some fascinating discussions about what constitutes identity. I began lecturing on the influence of German philosophers Freud, Nietsche and Marx and their significance in articulating our modern understanding of identity. I was happy to finally use my knowledge of German philosophical history in the classroom.
